Voting’s wide open to anybody who visits the site. You don’t have to be a gay.com member to vote. So encourage your friends, family and whomever else you’d like to vote for you as well.
Yes, definitely. You can even vote for yourself and others in the contest. However, votes made by any automated means will not be counted. Per the official rules, “voting generated by script, macro or other automated means or with the intent to impair the integrity of the rating process, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, will be void.” Click on official rules to learn further how contestants are judged and/or disqualified.
Even if somebody makes it to the Finals, they can choose to drop out of the contest. When that happens, the contest simply continues with fewer contestants. We wish all of our Finalists the best of luck – whether they’re still in the Final Fifteen or not!
A few key highlights: you must be a current gay.com member in good standing, with a current gay.com profile and you must be a legal resident of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia to participate. You must also be 18 or older on September 15th, 2008. If you are not a current gay.com member, you may first join gay.com for FREE and then return to enter the contest. Please see our official rules.
After the first 50 eligible entries are received per category, all finalists will be picked by contest voters. The mr gay.com contestant with the most votes in the Finals will ultimately be crowned mr gay.com 2008.
Each of the up to two hundred and fifty (250) entrants who qualify to enter the contest will receive a free year of gay.com Premium Membership as detailed in the official rules.
The Finalists as determined in the official rules will travel to San Francisco in order to attend the mr gay.com 2008 Finals Party on Thursday, November 13th, 2008. Accommodations in San Francisco will be provided for the Finalists. The Finalists will also be showcased on gay.com and featured in future gay.com advertisements.
The top three vote-getters from the Finals will receive mr gay.com 2008 gold, silver and bronze medals. The ultimate winner, our gold medalist, will be crowned mr gay.com 2008 and featured prominently on the gay.com home page and in gay.com advertising. All prize details can be found in our official rules.
You can nominate somebody else by clicking here and sending them an email. But you may not enter them into the contest. Only a contestant may enter themselves.
The categories are loosely defined as expressed on the home page and in our official rules. Yes, you pick which category you’d like to enter.
In order to effectively run a contest of this scale, we were limited to only five categories. To pick the categories, we surveyed some of our most active members on gay.com. The five categories you see here were the top five choices.
No, please enter in one category only. You will be disqualified if you attempt to enter the contest in more than one category.
If you are a current gay.com member, your member name is the name you sign in with when you visit gay.com. It also appears at the upper left of your screen, above your primary photo, when you view your own profile. If you’re not a member, just join gay.com for free and choose a member name for yourself. Then come back here and register for the contest!
Four photos (with captions) are required to enter the contest. The first needs to be a head shot of you (defined as any photo that shows you from the chest and up). The other three photos are up to you but may not be adult in nature (or you will be disqualified). Specific photo details and requirements are here.
Women are welcome to join this contest. Unfortunately, there are no women-specific categories at this time due to the fact that the majority of our members are men. Our desire is to include women next time.
All contest entrants are reviewed during the ‘call for entries’ stage of the contest which runs from Monday, September 15th to Friday, October 3rd at 9pm, Pacific Time. Each category will be deemed ‘full’ once the first fifty qualifying entries have been received and determined. The first 50 entrants [per category] whose submissions qualify by complying with the official rules of the contest will be posted on the site for voting on Monday, October 6th, 2008.
If you don’t see your profile on the voting pages it means that you have either not qualified per the official rules or that your entry was received after the category was full with fifty qualifying applicants.
